Q. How do I know if this remote start will work in my car?
Remote starts will work in almost any car that has an automatic transmission and fuel injection (Most cars built in the last 20 years have fuel injection).

The only real exception is some newer cars that have anti-theft systems which work with a small security key built into the ignition key. In order to install a remote start in one of these vehicles, you'll need a "transponder". Click here for a list of vehicles which require transponders.

Q. What if I have a manual transmission?
Most remote starts are designed for cars with automatic transmissions. We do not recommend that you install a remote starter on a vehicle with manual transmission

Q. How hard is it to install?
While the installation is not terribly difficult, it will take some time. If you have ever installed an alarm, it's very comparable to that, and requires a reasonable amount of automotive/electronics experince. A professional can do it in about 1 - 2 hours, most people will take longer.

Q. What if I don't have power doorlocks?
Having or not having power doorlocks will not affect the remote start. If you want the keyless entry feature however, power doorlocks are a must. If your car does not have power doorlocks but you'd like to have keyless entry, click here.

Q. What if I have an alarm in my car?
Commando remote starts have a bypass wire which will connect to your alarm and disable it when the remote start is activated.

Q. Does it work with a diesel?
Yes. The remote start has a special start mode for vehicles with diesel engines.
