501 S 2 CHANNEL ALARM SYSTEM

INSTALLATION MANUAL

WIRE COLORS & DESIGNATIONS ON MAIN HARNESS

The following is to be used as a guide for your installation.
Thank you for purchasing the best basic car alarm system available.
We at COMMANDO appreciate your business and strive to help you
in any way we can with the installation and use of this product.

To start, determine the colors and locations in your vehicle
that you will need to address during the installation. You can
aquire the wiring for your vehicle at the link available on this page

Next, find a suitable location under your dashboard, to position
the "brain" of the alarm system. This should be a dry location, high up in
the underdash area. The alarm "Brain" has two tabs on it to affix it
to an exsisting vehicle wiring harness. (Use 2 wire ties to mount it securely)

Then, using black electrical tape, wrap the main harness wires you
will be using, neatly cutting off the excess length of the wires, to
fit between the distance from where you placed the "brain", to the ignition
switch harness coming off the key cylinder. This is where your
main wiring for this alarm system will be done.
(DO NOT CONNECT ALARM TO THE HARNESS YET!
WAIT UNTIL ALL REQUIRED CONNECTIONS ARE DONE!

So far, so good. Find the BLACK(-) wire in the main harness and locate
a good solid chasis ground. If painted, scrape a bit off
and with a 1/4 self tapping screw, and eyehole connector, mount to
the vehicle securely. Then follow the designated wiring color code above
preferably using solder to make the proper connections. If you choose
to use crimp connectors, please make sure the proper guage connectors
and crimp tool is used to assure a solid connection.
If using a solder method, onec your connections are made
use more black electrical tape to cover the exposed solder joints.

Now for the LED, and VALET switch. Find a visable location in the
dashbaord area, or center console in your vehicle. This spot
is for the LED that is included and you will need to take extra care
to check behind the area you've chosen to place it. Using a 1/4 inch drill bit,
slowly procede in drilling the whole to mount the LED in place.
Feed the plug & wire through your whole and plug into the alarm "brain"
The VALET switch follows the same as the LED, but we suggest a hidden area,
either under the dash or, high up on the drivers side, plastic kick panel.

Next, you want to find a suitable "pass through" for the siren output wire
This will normally be fed through the firewall, to the engine compartment,
using either a rubber gromet that already exsists for your vehicle's main wiring packs,
or by drilling a small hole using another 1/4 inch screw in a SAFE area of the firewall
that has "thin" sheet metal separating the engine compartment,
and the interior driver footwell. Now carefully feed the siren
output wire through the hole you made, and run around
to the area you are going to place your siren. Mount the siren,
with the bell opening faced down to prevent "the bucket" effect and getting
water in it's circuitry. Now Connect the siren output wire, to the RED siren wire
and waterproof the connection. Ground the black lead to the vehicle's chasis &
Tape off the added siren wire, so that it does'nt show if desired.

The final part af the basic installation process is attatching the trigger points,
ie; dome lights, trunk and included shock sensor. The shock sensor should
be securely mounted with wire ties, to a firm harness on the
right side of the steering column, close to the center
of the vehicle for the best responce. Leave the sensitivity screws accessable
for you so when you plug in the harness, you can set it to the
level you desire. As far as the other trigger points,
once you get the diagram for your vehicle, you will know where
and which wires that will be needed in your installation.

You are now ready to test the alarm system and make any adjustments you require,
to finish this installation. Plug in the main harness to the alarm "brain".
At this point the alarm will trigger, sounding the siren, and flashing the parking lights.
The included transmitters a factory pre-programed and by pressing
button 1 (on the left) of the transmitter, will disarm the alarm.
(button 2 is for a future function like trunk release, or added
remote start control.
*Installing keyless entry, & starter kill will
in most cases require relays (not included)These diagrams are
all available for you through the links on this page.

You have now completed your installation, CONGRATULATIONS!
