![]() 501 S OPERATIONS GUIDE ![]() TRANSMITTER BUTTON OPERATIONS: IMPORTANT! This system was designed to provide a 10 second "grace" period" after arming to allow for the alarm to stabalize with the circuitry in your vehicle. (allowing for shock sensors, window roll up etc....) PASSIVE/ACTIVE ARMING Your alarm is pre-set to passivly arm, and if installed, lock the vehicle's door locks, when the last door is closed. The alarm will sound 1 chirp and flash the parking lights once to confirm arming. A 30 second timer is activated upon the last door closing and the dome light goes out. The LED in the dash will blink quickly, showing that it is getting ready to arm. Once it arms, the LED in the dash will then blink slowly, showing that is is armed. ACTIVE ARMING Is a feature setting in the alarm that stops the system from arming, unless the system is armed by the transmitter ONLY. (see manual for features to change factory default settings) Button 1(one) on your remote, arms and disarms the alarm by pressing the button momentarilly for the desired function. Once you get in the vehicle and close the door, if you have selected passive arming, you MUST insert your ignition key and turn to the on position, or your system will arm itself. SILENT ARM/DISARM bypasses the siren chirps, and is activated simply by pressing button 2 momentarily, as you would with button 1. (button 2 is also the 2nd channel, that is pressed for 3 seconds to activate an accessory like trunk release, or remote start) TO PANIC THE ALARM TO SOUND THE SIREN Press and hold button one for 2 to 3 seconds. This will sound the siren and flash the lights, thus attracting attention, and hopefully warding off a potential problem. DEFECTIVE ZONE BYPASS If arming the alarm with the remote, you should hear 4 chirps from the siren, and see 4 flashes of your parking lights, your alarm has detected an open circuit, and is trying to notify you of it before you walk away. If left unattended, the alarm will bypass this zone, but will cover all of the rest of the installed zone sensors. AUTOMATIC ZONE BYPASS If the alarm detects one or more of the protected zones as being faulty , it will automatically check, and bypass the zone, notifying you with 4 chirps and flashes for each zone found to be faulty. This diognostic period will last up to 4 minutes, with the alarm bypassing each zone it finds, and then arming itself to protect the viable zones it finds. By inserting the key into your ignition, and turning it to the on position, you will reset the alarm. INTRUSION STATUS ALERT When coming back to your vehicle, upon disarming of the alarm system, you hear the siren sending 3 chirps, and you see 3 flashes of the vehicles parking lights, it is telling you that someone violated the system while you were gone. Check your belongings, and around the vehicle for any breach, or damage. SECOND CHANNEL (TRUNK/HATCH) If you wish to use the second channel for Trunk or Hatch release, Press and hold Button #2 for more than 3 seconds. The second channel will activate. (see diagram for Trunk release if this function is desired) VALET MODE To disable your alarm system to wash your car, or service your vehicle, and you have selected to use the PASSIVE operation for your alarm system, you can place your alarm into "VALET MODE". To do this, turn on your vehicle's ignition, then press and hold the hidden VALET switch you installed, until the LED comes on and stays solid. Turn off the ignition, and test, by trying to arm the vehicle. If installed, you will still be able to use the keyless entry feature of your alarm, but you will find that the alarm has been disabled. To get out of VALET MODE, repeat the steps you used to get into it. You will get a chirp confirmation, and the alarm will now go back to your original settings. (This is also the EMERGENCY BYPASS for your system, if you loose your remotes, follow this procedure to disable the alarm system untill you can replace your transmitters. Lastly always change the transmitter batteries every 6 months, to insure proper, and safe system operation.) |
